Roland Sands Design

Roland Sands knows a thing or two about motorbikes. An early dirt bike rider be progressed to the professional AMA road riding ranks then moved into customizing bikes. He has built bikes for some of the most famous people in Hollywood. Using his lifetime experience in and around road and dirt tracks, Sands turned his eye to clothing design. This jacket, the Barfly, is a homage to vintage dirt riding, with a hand finished, premium leather chassis and perforated zones for ventilation and comfort. It is packed with protection too … remember Sands broke a total of 32 bones during his pro career!

Style & Substance

These 'sneaker' style boots caught our eye recently. They are from the brand iXS, a leading manufacturer of protective gear for motorcyclists and lifestyle sportswear. They hail from Germany.

The trick here is to have a sneaker or, more accurately, a lifestyle brand feeling while still incorporating good levels of protection. This shoe has hard protection on the ankle and a reinforced toebox and heel counter. It has a high grip sole, perfect to wet days, and reflective detailing which is good for dark days! It looks like it is comfortable and 'broken-in' meaning you can wear it from day one. What's more it is CE certified.

Ralph Lauren's RRL Collection

In the quest to find quality clothes for today's breed of urban motorcycle riders, looking beyond the leathers and greasy jeans brigade throws up some interesting things. Here, Ralph Lauren's RRL Collection ticks many boxes. Mixing fantastic natural materials with an era design imperative RRL certainly gets our vote and makes us think of Ralph Lauren as being much, much more than a preppy, all-American brand.
